The Trojan Pride band directors and the Jenks Band Parents THANK YOU in advance for your gift of time and energy!  We have a variety of volunteer opportunities throughout the 2023-2024 band season.  We need all the help we can get so please take a look and mark any opportunity where you may be interested in serving and we'll reach out when we need help.  This is a long list of volunteer opportunities so please scroll through to the bottom!

It takes an army…

Talk to any active or past band parent and they will tell you that getting involved was the best thing they ever did.  There are so many things that need to be done both large and small and every contribution is appreciated.  You can help load or unload the trucks, fit uniforms, help with props, help with feeding the students, the list goes on and on.  It truly takes an army to keep this organization operating.

There are different types of parents in the band program.  There are people who come in and ‘just do it.’  They do whatever needs to be done.  You see them all the time, working, laughing, and celebrating the experience.  They are the people who hold back a bit but will help if asked.  They wait for someone to give them a task.  Don’t wait for someone else to do it.  Volunteer now.  Trust us, we need you!

Not every parent can give large blocks of time to the program.  We completely understand.  Some are worried that they do not have the rights skills.  We have many tasks that are perfect for them.  All they need is a pulse and a willingness to help.  New parents worry that they will be sucked into something they don’t want to do.  We respect your boundaries and your time.  We all have commitments and know what a challenge it can be to balance everything; especially these days.  Give what you can, when you can, and we will all be better for it.

There is work that has to be done, lots of work and funds that need to be raised, lots of funds; two separate but mutually important endeavors.  If you don’t help, someone will have to do it.  Whatever you can do will be appreciated without question, especially by those parents who are trying to cover all the bases.

Volunteers are organized through the Jenks Band Parent website at www.jenksbandparents.com and all information is sent through the band newsletters.  The newsletters are full of vital information, are kept brief and sent out weekly unless additional information needs to be shared.

This may be one of your last opportunities to share something very special with your student.  You will be close enough to enjoy their experiences, and far enough away to give them their space.  You will meet wonderful people, directors, staff members, parents and students.  These are the best of times and we want you to come in and enjoy them with us.  The Trojan Pride Marching Band program needs you to help them continue to be their best.

Thank you for helping our students “BE THEIR BEST”

Interested in Volunteering 23-24

Parent Volunteer Information - In order to ensure the safety of our students and to comply with school regulations, volunteer policies and procedures are required for every volunteer.  In the Jenks Band organization, a volunteer defines any of us that perform a task that benefits the program.  This would include chaperoning, working concessions, helping with food services, holding a board position, selling spirit wear, working with uniforms, etc...(I think you probably see the pattern....it applies to ALL of us…   :-)

With that being said, we need everyone that is performing one of these functions to fill out a volunteer application and process a lobby guard application.  The volunteer app is totally on line.  It does NOT produce paperwork for you to print out and turn in. (YEA!!!).  Please use this link to perform this task prior to fulfilling the duties of volunteering this season -

2023-24 Volunteer Confidentiality Training

Very important - In the “Teacher” section, you need to put “Scott Hillock”.  This way, Kathy Guenther, the district volunteer coordinator, can run a report on this field for us showing us everyone that has met this requirement.

The second step (Lobby Guard) is needed to complete this application.  You need to run your Driver's License through a lobby guard machine and get a sticker that is generated.  We will then match this sticker with your on line volunteer app and let the magic begin!

Also, a food handlers permit is REQUIRED for anyone (students and parents) planning on working concessions AND any parent interested in chaperoning.

Food Handler's Permit - Below is the link to the online class for the food handlers permit for volunteers.  You can complete this online but you will need to have a printer accessible in order to print your permit. You only have one chance to print-access the card once you complete the training.    https://www.tulsa-health.org/volunteer-online-training

THE PERMITS ARE FREE AND WILL LAST FOR ONE YEAR.
